Artist: Leslie Lile

The Lyric category winner of the 10th Annual Great American Song is Leslie Lile of Milton, Florida.

Her song lyric "Right Where You Are" won praise from the contest judges for its "inspirational and engaging lyrical story" and "well-crafted song structure."

Leslie has been writing lyrics seriously for about two years, she says, working diligently to improve her craft.

"I love to write lyrics," she says. "I'm starting to realize how important it is to communicate an interesting story, to find just the right words. I am a visual person. I think that it is very important for a song to paint a visual picture for the listener.."

Lesley works from an inner spiritual place, she says, and finds inspiration from Christian songwriters, including Jeremy Camp, Mark Schultz, Chris Sligh and Casting Crowns.

"My near term goal is to find a good music composer to work with," Lesley says. "I have some musical background but I'd like to work with someone who really understands melody."
