ONE MORE GAME OF TEXAS HOLD ‘EM
©2022 Mark StepakoffVerse 1:
Eddie drove from Vegas out to Reno
A thousand times or more he’s made the trip
Seems like yesterday they built the first casino
Now there’s more like thirty on the strip
But Eddie’s gambling days are nearly over
His doctor says his odds are looking slim
But there’s one thing that Eddie knows
He wants to do before he goes
So he sat down in an empty seat and said “Boys, deal me in”CHORUS:
One more game of Texas Hold ’Em, that is all he wants to play
Then he’ll get up from the table and forever walk away
Got some bourbon in a snifter, stogie hanging from his lips
One more game of Texas Hold ‘Em before he cashes in his chipsVerse 2:
Eddie’s played a million hands of poker
He’s seen all kinds of players through the years
A few were good but most were mediocre
They’d last a little while, then disappear
But Eddie’s won a lot more than he hasn’t
And even though his eyesight’s almost gone
He still can see just well enough
To spot a tell or call a bluff
And he wants to do it one more time before he passes onCHORUS:
One more game of Texas Hold ’Em, that is all he wants to play
Then he’ll get up from the table and forever walk away
With what little time remains for him he’s finally come to grips
One more game of Texas Hold ‘Em before he cashes in his chipsBridge:
He had Ace-Jack in the hole
And a Queen came on the flop
Next thing he knew down Fourth Street came a ten
When the King came down the river
Well he thought his heart might stop
But he calmly said “Guess what, boys -- I’m all in”
Verse 3:
Eddie took his money from the table
Stepped out into the warm Nevada wind
And smiled to himself that he’d been able
To walk away a winner in the end
Eddie passed away a few days later
A few old-timers still recall his name
But if up in heaven there’s a God
My friend I’ll give you even odds
That Eddie’s up there right now, trying to find himself a game
CHORUS:
One more game of Texas Hold ‘Em, that is all he wants to play
With a stack of chips enough to last forever and a day
And a seat among the legends from the glory days gone by
One more game of Texas Hold ‘Em at that table in the sky
