It Takes All Kinds

Verse 1:
I’ve got friends with many different views
Some come from the red states, some the blues
Some watch MSNBC, some watch Fox News
I don’t bother trying to change their minds
I learned long ago it takes all kinds

Verse 2: 
They say we’re living through a great divide
And everybody’s gotta choose a side 
But not every little thing is cut and dried 
And more than ever in these crazy times
When it comes to friends it takes all kinds

Bridge 1:
I don’t care if they’re Republican or Democrat 
Cause isn’t there a little more to life than that?
And if that’s the only way you ever choose your friends 
Then you’re probably seeing things through a pretty narrow lens

Verse 3:
So it’s never made much difference to me 
If a friend has views with which I disagree
If we can share some laughs and revelry 
And help each other through our daily grinds 
As far as I’m concerned it takes all kinds  

Bridge 2:
Last year when I got sick and nearly passed away 
And a steady stream of friends stayed with me night and day 
All in all I’d say that meant a little more 
Than in the last election who they may have voted for 

Verse 4:
And I really think that it would be a shame 
If all my friends’ opinions were the same
Served up from a cookie cutter frame 
Cause who cares if every point of view aligns? 
In this crazy mixed up world, it takes all kinds 

Yes when it comes to friends 
It takes all kinds
