HE'D LIKE TO SAY HE'S SORRY
©2023 David Yerganian

VERSE 1
He’d like to say he’s sorry
He knows he went too far
But right now he’s havin’ too good a time
With the boys down at the bar
They just put the game on
And the Cowboys have the ball
When halftime comes he’ll slip away
And then he’ll make that call

VERSE 2
He’d like to say he’s sorry
But an old friend just walked in
There’s so much to catch up on first
She’ll still be there when he rings
They’re still swappin’ stories
So he’ll have another round
He’ll tell her what she wants to hear
Once he puts it down

CHORUS
He’d like to say he’s sorry
But she knows it anyway
They’ve been through this time and time again
Now it’s just a game they play
He moves the line he crosses
To see how far she’ll bend
Knowin’ she’ll forgive him
On that he can depend

VERSE 3
He’d like to say he’s sorry
But she’s probably asleep
He’ll just slip in bed beside her
It’s nothin’ that can’t keep
He’d like to say he’s sorry
But it don’t matter anymore
She wrote “I’d like to say I’m sorry…”
In her note stuck on the door
