Artist: Richard Summerbell

The winner in the Special Music Category of the 7th Annual Great American Song Contest is Richard Summerbell.

Richard worked regularly in the Toronto singer-songwriter scene in the late 1990s before moving to Amsterdam in 2000, where he teamed up producer Carlos Vamos to produce his first CD, "Light Carries On."

His song "(Thank you for being my) Dog" was praised by GASC judges for its impressively clever wordplay and its highly original "rules are made to be broken" attitude.

Richard has several new projects are in the works, including a single based on two 16th century Christmas songs that that he says anticipated the musical forms of 21st century rock.
